Braco Italiano
[edit]I am the owner of the Kennel name “Del Campo di Diana”. I have bred several excellent dogs from the Bracco Italiano breed (Italian Pointer or Italian Pointing Dog), with trial and show championships in several countries from Europe and Europe championships.
This dog is one of the classic and ancient pointers. This breed is mainly selected in the northern regions of Italy. The breed has been present since the Middle Ages and became popular in the Renaissance. The Bracco Italiano was held in that period as hunting dog by the famous nobility like the Gonzaga and the Medici families.
There were three types of this breed:
- The white and orange variety originated in Piedmont (the "Piedmontese" pointer).
- The roan and brown variety originated in Lombardy (the “Lombard” pointer).
- The Piacenza pointer, (Bracchi Piacentini) a much higher dog and is after circa 1900 disappeared.
The Bracco Italiano[6][7] an excellent hunting dog but also a very good companion dog. The Bracco Italiano is a dog in the F.C.I Classification: Group 7, Pointing Dogs. Section 1.1 Continental Pointing Dogs, type: "Braque" and with working trial.
