My main (really, only, aside from being a peanut tosser from the gallery) contribution to the Wikimedia projects these days is in the form of photography. My main camera these days is a Canon EOS 400D, which I purchased in November 2006. Prior to that, I used a Fuji FinePix 3800 (more recent) and a Fuji FinePix 1400 (not so recent). My main camera before that (but which I have not used for any commons contributions) was a Canon AE-1 Program, which I got in 1980 (if I recall correctly). I'm currently saving up toward buying an image-stabilized telephoto zoom for the 400D; after that I'll probably start planning toward buying whatever succeeds the 30D in the Canon prosumer line of bodies, assuming that that body takes EF lenses.

My Commons gallery is here (or you can use the automagic gallery). Other stuff (of a more arty, less encyclopedic nature) may appear on my deviantArt gallery, although I rarely ever upload there. I think probably my most successful photograph to date is my picture of Stephen Colbert, which I caught using a Fuji FinePix at the 2006 Knox graduation ceremonies. This image replaced a nonfree image on one of the higher-traffic pages on the English Wikipedia, which is why I am especially proud of it.

I have some 15,000 photographs sitting in various hard drives that I really will go through some day to see if any are worth uploading. Really. I promise. (Most of them are probably not.)

I have an abiding fascination with color theory and in that vein have created two little webtoys, both of which are on my website: Colorspace Explorer and Cooperative Color Naming System. The latter actually lets you contribute to a database of color names.

I maintain a blog consisting of my various observations about Wikipedia, Wikimedia, and other random things. Any commentary on Wikipedia or Wikimedia I might want to share will be found there. Questions asked here about content I write there will probably be ignored.

I have decided to (re)license my contributions here under the GFDL only; I am not happy with the direction I see the Creative Commons going. If you want to use one of my contributions under conditions that are not consistent with the GFDL, please contact me and we can negotiate a mutually acceptable license.
