John Shockley (born William John Thomas Shockley October 16, 1989) is an American actor and model. He is known for his work in indie films (Memoribilia, Hell House, Wireface...). He is married to photographer Brittany Shockley.
Early Life
Shockley was born, William John Thomas Shockley in Danville, Kentucky, to John Shockley, who went from job to job ranging from working on farms, to welding, and Melissa Shockley, who was unemployed. Shockley was raised in a conservative, southern baptist family, with younger brother Timothy, and younger half sister Jamie Benadict. Shockley attended high school at Lincoln County High School (Stanford, Ky). During high school he played football (freshman year) and basketball for a county recreational league. Shockley was expelled from high school for a fight and was admitted into the alternative school (Fort Logan) for the first semester of his junior year. His second semester of his junior year he was readmitted into the high shool. In January of 2007 Shockley's father died in a car crash on his way to work. Shockley says that his dad was his biggest role model and the two of them were very close. Although Shockley was devasted from his father's death he says that it taught him a lesson about how short and hard life can be. Shockley says he now appreciates life more than he did before and refuses to let his life "fly by him". He finished up his high school career at LCHS and enlisted into the Marine Corps. Before Shockley could leave for bootcamp he was convicted of Burglary 3rd degree and was sentenced to 90 days of jail and 4 years of pre-trail diversion. This also kept him from being able to ship off with the Marine Corps. Shockley was granted shock probation from jail so that he did not have to spend the full 90 days incarcerated. Shockley says that his run in with the law definitely helped him realize what was important and he soon afterwards married his wife Brittany Shockley (July 25th 2009). That fall Shockley enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University where he planned his major in Business Management. To earn money for paying tuition Shockley worked at Buffalo Wild Wings, Campus Outfitters, and sometimes donated blood and plasma for money. He was approached by photographer Gustavo Alfero to do some modeling to help build his photography portfolio. Alfero soon suggested Shockley to a few other photographers and Shockley began his modeling career. After modeling for some time he decided to try out acting. He then changed his major to Acting and tried out for roles in student films.
Career
After landing lead roles in some student films, such as "Flushed", Shockley then began to audition for independent films. The first independant film that Shockley was cast in was "Memoribilia" which is written and directed by Andrew Terry and Eric Sanders. He was then landed a supporting role in "Hell House" which is produced by Feathered Italian Films. Soon afterwards he was cast in several roles in short films and a featurette which is produced by Bob Rogers Group. After Shockley had some experience he searched for a local talent agency that would be able to help him gain more experience and help his publicity. He finally decided to sign with Heyman Talent Agency which has branches in Louisville Ky, Cincinnati OH, and Columbus OH.
Personal Life
Shockley started dating Brittany Allen during high school and they were married on July 25, 2009. Shockley's grandfather, Robert Shockley, was the preacher who performed the wedding at his church in Perryville Ky. Shockley has two dogs, Romeo (Great Pyrenese) and Bella (Yorkshire Terrier) which he and his wife say they can not live without. Shockley said that he plans to move to LA, California to further his acting career.
Facebook Presence
Shockley started a Facebook page to help let his friends and family stay updated with what he is doing in his acting career. Shockley maintains the page himself, and says that he wants his fans to know that he cares about them just as much as they care about him.
