User:Iamunknown/Letter to NIH
As part of Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Trophy.jpg, I sent the following letter to National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, a department of the National Institutes of Health, at nidcrinfo@mail.nih.gov (publicly available at http://www.nidcr.nih.gov/SiteIndex.htm).
Format for this page shamelessly stolen from User:Durin/Letter to Alaska; thanks Durin!
Original letter
[edit]Greetings,
I am interested to know the copyright status of an image hosted at http://www.nidcr.nih.gov/. It was formerly linked to http://www.nidcr.nih.gov/NR/rdonlyres/F52F097F-B37C-4B74-80FB-8321BDA72953/0/student2.jpg, which is now a dead link, and is also viewable at http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Image:Trophy.jpg. I am aware that "Most of the information available on the NIDCR Web site is within the public domain, and unless otherwise noted, may be freely downloaded and reproduced" (http://www.nidcr.nih.gov/WebPolicies.htm).
I am asking this question as a result of discussions on the English-language Wikipedia. It is currently claimed that this image is in the public domain and, as such, that it may be freely by anyone for any purpose.
I'd like to know what the copyright status of the image.
Thank you for your time
