this image is a screenshot of a program which can be downloaded at the official homepage http://www.clickteam.com/webftp/files/6/10/KPSchool.exe for free. does this change something on the copyright or should i ask for permission first? -- Darrn 10:21, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Good question. Are screenshots of copyrighted software copyrighted? Probably. Klik&Play is copyrighted, the free software is for academic use only. If you ask, then we know for sure, and they will probably allow it. -- Chris 73 11:00, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hello,

I do not think that any of the two licenses apply to pictures. In fact, you do not need to have a license for picture : the screenshots will be a simple illustration of a text. So of course, we agree that you do the screen shots. Thanks for asking.

Yours sincerely, F.Lionet

Hello Clickteam!

I want to make some screenshots of your software Klik & Play, The Games Factory, Multimedia Fusion etc. and publish them at Wikipedia (www.wikipedia.org), the free enzyklopedia. You may have already heard about it, it's an enzyklopedia where everyone can edit nearly everything and add text. But we are worried about the copyright situation of screenshots of your software. So my question is:

Are we allowed to publish screenshots of your software? If yes, under the terms of the GNU license or creative commons license?

see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_General_Public_License http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_commons

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but... =

I'm not sure what Mr. F.Lionet is talking about exactly: "the screenshots will be a simple illustration of a text" - this is clearly not true for the picture we are discussion here (Image:Klik & Play Storyboard Editor.png is alredy gone, but there is still Image:Klik & Play Event Editor.png, Image:Klik & Play Step Through Editor.png and Image:Klik & Play Level Editor.png).

Also, its unclear if he is right about pictures not requireing a copyright. He should say "in case copyright is applicable, i disclaim it hereby" or something like that. And it should be clear what pictures this applies to.

Sorry to be picky... -- Duesentrieb 16:34, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
