[[File:General Beauregard Miller Battle of Top Field Ridge]]

The following is an excerpt from The Miller Family Chronicles by Ray Miller. This is a story about his great-great-great grandfather, General Beauregard Miller (1821 - 1863).

General Beauregard Miller met his untimely demise in 1863 at a little known place….Brookemma, Georgia.

General Miller was commanding a unit of Georgia regulars on the morning of May 20, 1863.

As his troops were entering the small town of Brookemma, he noticed a little old lady crossing the street, she was holding hands with her 6 year old granddaughter. The lady was carrying a small puppy and her granddaughter was carrying a cute little bunny…and a kitten….and a parakeet. Aaaaahhhhhhh.

Suddenly, about 15 Yankee soldiers on horseback came barreling down the street…right towards the little old lady and her puppy, and her granddaughter and the kitten and the parakeet and the bunny.

The General acted immediately…he knew there was no time to waste.

He dismounted, ran into the street, directly into the path of the Yankee Calvary, pushed the old lady, her granddaughter, the puppy, the kitten, the parakeet and the bunny to safety.

But unfortunately, the General couldn’t save himself. He was trampled to death by those dog-gone Yankees.

To this day, when anyone in the Miller family has a grandmother, a granddaughter, a puppy, a kitten, a parakeet or a bunny. We always give them an extra hug….and remember Grandpa Beauregard and how met his maker.

Now Grandma Beauregard Miller…….…..well she got run over by a reindeer…..
