Hi. Please add Image copyright tags to Image:Lula jintao131104.jpeg. If you don't know the copyright status of the image you uploaded please tag it as "unknown", although the image may have to be deleted in this case. Thanks -- Chris 73 02:32, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you -- Chris 73 11:10, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Again, could you add the source and copyright tags to the images you uploaded? Image:Billgates.jpg looks somewhat copyrighted. For now I have tagged your image as "Unknown". If there are no tags, the image may have to be deleted. Thanks -- Chris 73 00:01, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Hi. It seems Image:Mst.jpg is under a non-commercial license. Unfortunately, the commons does not accept non-commercial licenses. Do you have the image also under a different license? -- Chris 73 03:49, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I changed the picture.-- Carlosar
... has been deleted as the image is not PD, but rather the copyright of FireFox. While the software is GNU licensed, screenshots are not automatically so. -- Chris 73 04:40, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I am afraid. There was a discussion about this, and the conclusion was that even if the software is under the GNU license, this does not mean that the screenshot is in the GFDL. This is probably more of a legal oversight of the GFDL license than anything else, but for now the screenshot is copyrighted. This does apply to a lot of screenshots. Microsoft for example has a specific regulation about the use of MS product screenshots. Sorry again! -- Chris 73 03:10, 26 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Ok, it is all right. Thank you! -- Carlosar 15:20, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Oi Carlos,
Gbiten 10:33, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Hi, I have another copyright question for you. In the above image, you say the publishers don't claim copyright. What does that mean, exactly? Did they just not say anything, or did they expressly release the image? -- Ranveig 17:08, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- They said nothing. I am trying to contacting the authors.
- Thanks, and good luck. -- Ranveig 01:14, 2 Mar 2005 (UTC)
hi - that image appears to be a scannes magazine page and is as such a copyright violation. I'm going to delete the image. If it has indeed be released under a free license, contact me and i will undelete it. -- Duesentrieb 03:24, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Same for Image:Veja-Tentaculos-46.jpg -- Duesentrieb 03:25, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Ok. Thanks for the warning.--Carlosar 03:27, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, but Commons is not supposed to contain unfree images such as licensed under Fair Use. Please don't upload them. Thank you. --EugeneZelenko 15:28, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Image deletion warning | Image:Eurovatican.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

--Patrick-br msg 16:26, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Sobre a legislação dos EUA: Work of the United States Government. Uma descrição da licença CC-BY-SA-2.5 (semelhante à GNU FDL, mas mais inteligível), aqui: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/ --Patrick-br msg 16:53, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Copyleft
--Patrick-br msg 11:51, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:RomeuQueiroz20051214 002.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:RomeuQueiroz20051214 002.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL-self to release it under the GFDL or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a gallery of images you have uploaded at the Gallery by choosing 'commons.wikimedia.org' and typing your username in. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.--gildemax 18:42, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
