In the form of Kumbhapanjara this motif is seen on the exterior walls of Vijayanagara temples of the 16th century A.D. this auspicious symbol is adopted as the logo by the government of erstwhile Andhra pradesh.

Pictures clicked in Telangana State Archaeology Museum, Hyderabad, India.This translated stone Mandapa containing architectural members from Chalukyan to Vijayanagara periods (12th-16th C.A.D) was part of the salvage Archeology conducted by Department of archealogy and museums in Srisailam submergible areas in 1978-1982. This was shifted from the ground floor of Sri Varadaraja swamy temple, Pragatur, Mahboobnagar, one of the submerged villages of Srisailam reservoir project. On the facade three standing images of Murali krishna flanked by Sridevi and Bhudevi are the master pieces of Vijayanagara school of art. The lintel is decorated with figure of Nataraja at the centre dated back to early Chalukyan times. The suspended flower drop encircled by parrots in the centre of the ceiling Mandapa is an excellent art form seen in all important temples of Vijayanagar kingdom.

The god is shown in the nandatandava. In this upper right hand he holds a drum, representing primordial sound of creation. The upper left hand holds a flame of destruction, that both destroys and cleanses the impurity of the soul, indicating the opposite in his nature that are symbolized by both female and male earrings.He makes the gesture 'Have to fear' and points to his raised left foot, symbolizing release or place of refuge and salvation for the worshipper. He treads upon the prostrate dwarf of ignorance, and illusion. Apasmara and the sense of ego which a devotee must overcome. The diminutive figure and goddess Ganga appears in his flowing hair. The god maintains an exquisite poise and equanimity at the centre of the whirling cycle of cosmic activity, symbolized by the flaming circle.

On the sikhara are Chandi on the north, Lakshminarashima on the east, Virabhadra on the south and ganapathi on the west. Nandis are seen on all four sides of the sikhara. They are also arranged in two other forms called Kailasa and Bhu. Meru is same as the plane Srichakra in plan; but various triangles surronding the innermost one are piled one over another in different places so that the wholes takes the shape of a pyramid. The topmost layer consist a circle called the bindu. If meru is associated with eight matrika deities it becomes the Kailasa and if it is associated with vasini dieties it becomes the Bhu. Here Meru is on the square platform; triangles are arranged in four tier over adhopadmapitha. There are 14 triangles in the first tier, 10 triangles in second tier, 10 triangles in third tier and eight triangles in the fourth tier.
