This template is used to provide formatting to descriptive metadata associated with images of museum objects held by Te Papa.

Template parameters

Parameter		Description	Type	Status
Basis of record	BasisOfRecord	Type of object at an institution, e.g., Preserved specimen, Fossil, Herbarium sheet.	String	optional
Qualified name	QualifiedName	Linnean binomial name.	String	required
Māori/common name	MāoriCommonName	Māori and/or English common name for the species, eg 'Castle Hill forget-me-not'.	String	optional
Genus common name	GenusCommonName	Māori and/or English common name for the genus, eg 'Forget-me-not'.	String	optional
Mātauranga Māori	MātaurangaMāori	If available, a summary of mātauranga Māori related to the species.	String	optional
Family	Family	Taxon classifier of the specimen, see [[w:en:Family (biology)|Family]]. Specifically included for botanical specimens.	String	optional
Registration number	RegistrationNumber	Internal Te Papa departmental registration number, eg SP090028 for a botanical specimen.	String	optional
Herbarium code	HerbariumCode	Short code identifying Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa Herbarium. Example WELT	String	optional
Type status	TypeStatus	Use if specimen is a type, eg holotype, lectotype.	String	optional
Type of	TypeOf	Use if specimen is a type. Indicates which species the specimen is a type of.	String	optional
Institution	Institution	Short form of name of holding institution name. Example Te Papa	String	optional
Collection date	CollectionDate	Date or date span specimen was collected. Format as YYYY-MM-DD or YYYY-MM-DD to YYYY-MM-DD.	String	optional
Collected by	CollectedBy	List of parties who collected the specimen. Maintain the order provided by Te Papa's collections API and remove honorifics such as "Dr", "Ms".	String	optional
Identified by	IdentifiedBy	Party who assigned the taxon to the specimen. Remove honorifics.	String	optional
Country	Country	Country the specimen was collected.	String	optional
State/province	StateProvince	Regional area the specimen was collected	String	optional
Precise locality	PreciseLocality	Exact location the specimen was collected. Leave empty if the record is flagged with restrict locality.	String	optional
Elevation (metres)	Elevation	Vertical distance in metres relative to sea level in positive direction of find of the specimen. May be a range.	String	optional
Depth (metres)	Depth	Vertical distance in metres relative to sea level in negative direction of find of the specimen. May be a range.	String	optional
Source URL	SourceURL	Collections Online URL for this specimen.	URL	optional
Credit line	CreditLine	If available, provenance information about the specimen.	String	optional
