Moved to Sexuality Barnstar

I have moved this from "Erotica Barnstar" (which itself was at "Hot Sex Barnstar") to "Sexuality Barnstar" in order to give the barnstar a wider scope which at the moment is only for those people who upload nudie pics to Commons. By redefining the name, we are widening it's scope to be more general in terms of all sexuality contributions to Commons. russavia (talk) 10:17, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Proposal to change the image in the barnstar

I have left a message for Niabot here in which I propose that we change the image for this barnstar to one which is a little more generic which covers all sexuality topics. As I state to Niabot, I am 100% for a broad scope for inclusion of sexuality-related content to Commons, but if this barnstar was given to me on my talk page as it is at the moment, I would remove it. And I am sure that a lot of like-minded editors would be of the same opinion. So let's come up with an image that is a little bit less offensive for many in the community, and that way we make it more likely that the barnstar will receive more widespread acceptance by other editors. I would suggest that a better approach would be to create something like {{Sexuality barnstar 2}} or similar. I see nothing wrong with this image, and I am very afraid that this change would only be a precursor to the DR (I trust that this is not your goal, but somebody may later come and make it theirs). Of course, even if the image will be changed there's nothing stopping people from continuing to add the current one directly (with no template) or to then create {{Original sexuality barnstar}} to have this image there; but I am sure that you see that this would make it rather impractical, there'd be an old template with the new image, and the new template with the original one; it's much easier to just make a new template from the start.

But let's discuss the another possible image. I think that it should represent the diverse forms of sexuality and sexual practices, definitely should not be censored, and should primarily be geared to be pleasant to those who commonly upload sexuality related images (after all it is they who will receive such a star). Same here, and with Penyulap's additional clarification on what the male/female stars could represent, makes it even more appropriate. We could even link back to the diff where he states the above in the description. Could we perhaps give this barnstar a try in the template for now -- I know I definitely would not object to receiving it in that form...and nor would a lot of other editors I would imagine. russavia (talk) 03:56, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

I have actually thought about this barnstar a little longer and I now think that it would be more logical to replace the current image in the template with the new one. The old image should be moved to a new name. I would propose {{Hot Sexuality Barnstar}}, not only is it more in line with the original name, but it's also it's a categorisation of the sexuality barnstars (this is a regular one and the other one will be "hot"). I got two barnstars related to this request as it is, so I really had to restrain my artistic talent to prevent things getting out of hand :D
