Purpose or instructions?
[edit]What's the purpose of this template? I've seen several active editors use it in an apparent attempt to avoid communicating. —Danorton (talk) 00:25, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
- The purpose clearly is to tell people, that the user is retired. If some users use it to pretend being inactive that's abuse of the template. --Slomox (talk) 12:07, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Dutch translation?
[edit]In Dutch the message is:
"Deze gebruiker is, naar eigen wens, niet meer actief op Wikimedia Commons. Dit is niet indicatief voor het breken van enig Wikimedia-beleid."
In Dutch the second sentence makes is unclear and no sense, you just can't "beleid breken". Please correct. Thanks! Hansmuller (talk) 11:10, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

- I think it means that, despite some people think so, retiring is accepted and nobody is obliged to remain active (and reachable) forever. Although I’ve never come across such opinion… (This is strictly my personal interpretation. Empty talk pages
[edit]I didn't understand if this template legitimizes users to empty their talk page and to continue to delete threads opened by other users. I don't think so, but I wanted to make sure. Thank you for the clarification! --Valerio Bozzolan (talk) 05:43, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
