Should have a full list of countries or at least a link to one
[edit]I find the use of "etc." here without a link to a full list pretty irresponsible. The purpose of this template is to provide a legal declaimer to those whom it may affect; it should give a FULL coverage of exactly what regions, at the very least by linking to an article about the subject. Which identities, exactly?
[edit]The template lists lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. Do the laws prohibiting use of these symbols apply exclusively to these four, or to other LGBT+ identities such as agender, asexual, intersex, etc.? OmegaFallon (talk) 23:36, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

- The only thing that's clear is that the template should be placed on images which use symbols of lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender people. It's not clear at all if this template should be placed on images which have symbols for other identities. I do agree that Commons requires it, I just think we could do with some legal clarification for it to serve its purpose best. OmegaFallon (talk) 12:18, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- The purpose is to serve as a general warning to people in countries with anti-LGBT+ laws. Different counties can have very different laws, so it's too tedious to list out the specifics of everything. Denmark's anti-discrimination laws only officially apply to sexual identities, not gender-based one (but Denmark's legal system doesn't seem to care). You'd also never expect that Iran's government is completely ok with transgender identities, but not others. And, the symbolism (which this template is about) adds another layer of complication. My point is that it's just to difficult to give any specific answers for something this broad, so a single template can't be more specific. A series of more specific templates could provide more clarity, but that doesn't exist yet (to my knowledge). ⇒ Zhing-Za, they/them, 23:50, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
