A notice tag?

[edit]

I believe it would be interesting to add a tag, as in en:Template:Hidden category. What do you think? Jean-Fred (talk) 13:50, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done @Jean-Frédéric: full agree, all interwiki templates have this, otherwise the template makes nearly no sense (unnecessary conversion of the Wiki-syntax is not desired). -- User: Perhelion 09:23, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bad wording

[edit]

The text "This category is hidden and appears in the second line of categories" is misleading. Depending on the number of categories and the user's settings, it may appear on the third, fourth or tenth or more line of categories.

I changed it to "...after all non-hidden categories", but that was reverted (subsequent tweaks have made no substantial difference to my point).

Please can we stop making misleading statements in this template?

I also changed the condition: "It is not shown if the appropriate user preference is deactivated." to "...shown only if the appropriate user preference is set". That too was reverted. I am unclear in what way the double negative is thought to be better. I also understand - per Help:Categories#Hidden categories - that "not shown" is the default.
