Template talk:GPS EXIF

How does this template work? DschwenBot seems to work autonomously on newly uploaded images. Is this template meant to be added to older images that were uploaded before the bot had started to work? --Slomox (talk) 20:22, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

DschwenBot looks at new uploads. I've tried to process all of the older images at one time, but it is quite possible that the bot missed a few, since I had to refine the GPS-data-detection a few times. So if you have an image that you think should contain GPS-data but hasn't been processed. Tag it with this template. Thanks for the info. One more question: I looked at some of the images DschwenBot recently edited. Looking at the EXIF data at the image description page, there is no geodata visible. Only the hemispheres (latitude East/West and longitude North/South), but no coordinates. Doesn't Mediawiki display this? --Slomox (talk) 14:04, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

If the EXIF handling of Mediawiki were not broken my bot would have much less work to do. The data is not in the database, I have to download every image and extract it myself. A bug was filed a long time ago, and a patch happend to get submitted three days ago bugzilla:13172. --Dschwen (talk) 17:12, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Do not extract GPS

I think, a template {{Do not extract GPS}} (or something similar) which would prevent extracting of GPS would be useful for such cases when the GPS coordinates are incorrect or unwanted to be extracted. --ŠJů (talk) 18:04, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
