Template talk:Created with GIMP
GIMP is an image processing program. Many of the images are not totally produced by GIMP but just "processed" by GIMP. I suggest the template changed from This raster graphics image was created with GIMP to This raster graphics image was processed with GIMP. --Nevit Dilmen (talk) 20:27, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Possibility to link a corresponding generated image
[edit]Can we use this template to say that it exists a corresponding uploaded generated image? --Valerio Bozzolan (talk) 00:54, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
Category by MIME
[edit]@Sarang: It's weird to have non-PNGs in Category:PNG created with GIMP. Can't you have something like [[Category:{{#switch:{{#invoke:File|mime|file={{PAGENAME}}}}|image/png=PNG|image/jpeg=JPG|image/gif=GIF|image/webp=WebP|image/svg+xml=SVG|image/x-xcf=XCF|Other}} files created with GIMP]]

- @Jonteemil: It is not a new idea. When we needed 6 years ago to have a category for non-SVG, we discussed a lot about a name.
- It had been excluded to have an own category for each mime type or extension. We had a brainstorming about a name: it should be as short as "SVG", therefore "Raster image" seemed too long, as "bitmap", or simply "Other". No conclusion was found, so we selected "PNG" knowing well that also GIF, JPG and all other non-SVG images, vector or raster, are categorized there.
- Of course it is possible to have categories for each extension, main-categorized under e.g. "Non-SVG". To me it seems too many categories of no practical use for the differing. For GIMP, there are enough files, but with other tools often a category may hold only one or a few files. Your idea seems good for GIMP, but a special GIMP treating isn't.
- But if a really good idea arises, the system can be changed ! -- sarang♥사랑 09:09, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
