Template:PD-Scan-two
This image is in the public domain because it is a mere mechanical scan or photocopy of a public domain original, or – from the available evidence – is so similar to such a scan or photocopy that no copyright protection can be expected to arise. The original itself is in the public domain in its source country for the following reason:
The original itself is in the public domain in the United States for the following reason:
This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag. Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.

This template is similar to {{PD-Scan}} but allows you to specify two tags, one for the reason the work is public domain in the source country and one for the reason it is public domain in the United States. For example, if the work was published before 1929 and the author died at least 75 years ago, you would use:
- {{PD-Scan-two|PD-old-75||PD-US-expired|}}
More examples
- A photograph of a 1911 English work whose author died in 1925 may be tagged {{PD-Scan-two|PD-old-70||PD-US-expired|}}.
- A photograph of a Canadian photograph created prior to 1949 may be tagged {{PD-Scan-two|PD-Canada||PD-1996|}}.
Where possible, prefer PD-US-expired to PD-1996, because it is simpler. If the work is not in the public domain in the US due to the URAA, do not use PD-Scan-two; instead use {{PD-Scan}} combined with {{Not-PD-US-URAA}}, like in this example:
- An English work whose author died in 1935 may be tagged {{PD-Scan|PD-old-70}} {{Not-PD-US-URAA}}
Usage
{{PD-Scan-two |1= |2= |3= |4= }}
