Template:PD-old-assumed-expired
The copyright situation of this work is theoretically uncertain, because in the country of origin copyright lasts 70 years after the death of the author, and the date of the author's death is unknown. However, the date of creation of the work was over 120 years ago, and it is thus a reasonable assumption that the copyright has expired (see here for the community discussion). Do not use this template if the date of death of the author is known.
This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1929. | |
This file has been identified as being free of known restrictions under copyright law, including all related and neighboring rights. |
- This template will categorize into Category:PD Old (assumed) expired.
Please use {{PD-old-auto-expired}} in preference to this template if the date of death is known. Please use {{PD-old-70-expired}} if the work was created more than 190 years ago (i.e. before 1834) by an unknown author, as it is literally impossible for the author to have died more than 120 years after creating the work unless they were Jeanne Calment and created the work as a baby.
This template is like {{PD-old-assumed}} except it also indicates the work was first published before 1929, and so is also in the public domain in the United States.
Impact - This template applies to ~36129 files.
