Problem template for inaccurate paleontological restorations.

Usage

{{Inaccurate paleoart
 |reason =
 |historical =
 |model =
 |skeleton =
 |dinosaur =
 |ornithischia =
 |sauropoda =
 |theropoda =
 |coelurosauria =
}}

This template is used to mark inaccurate paleontological restorations. In addition to adding the inaccuracy banner, this template automatically categorizes images based on the parameters provided. At least one category is always provided, depending on the classification of the taxon or taxa depicted in an image, depending on whether |dinosaur= is set to yes and what, if any, more specific classifications are provided. If a non-dinosaur, none of the classification subcategories are required and the image will be automatically placed in Category:Inaccurate paleoart. If the image depicts more than one classification of animal, only apply labels that all depicted organisms can be classified as, for the classification subcategories are mutually exclusive.

If the image is of historical value, or from a published resource and inaccurate, set |historical= to yes and the image will be placed in Category:Obsolete paleoart as well. This category can be displayed alongside those below, but is mutually exclusive with the taxonomic categories.

If the image depicts an inaccurate skeleton |skeleton=yes will place the image in Category:Inaccurate dinosaur skeletons. If the image depicts a 3D model of a dinosaur, |model=yes will place the image in Category:Inaccurate dinosaur models. Both of these parameters are mutually exclusive, so only one can be applied per image. If both a skeleton and a model are in the photo, leave both parameters blank.

TemplateData

TemplateData is a way to store information about template parameters (the description of those and of the whole template) for both humans and machines. It is used by VisualEditor and possibly other tools like Upload Wizard.

Existing template documentation
At Wikimedia Commons, it is recommended to use {{TemplateBox}} with either ‎useTemplateData=1 or ‎useTemplateData=only on the ‎/doc subpage and transcluding it with {{Documentation}} into the template. ‎<nowiki>-tags can be wrapped around the arguments, if required, to avoid templates being expanded.

Newly created template documentation and imports
Another option, especially for imported templates, or for users with JSON experience, is placing raw ‎<templatedata>-tags into the Wikitext of the template, as described in various Wikipediae.

Disputed / something missing:

  • {{Clarify}} – an in-line template
  • {{Lacking insignia source}}insignia
  • {{References missing}}generally for files where the description or depiction needs references
  • {{Datasource missing}}for own diagrams and maps visualizing data that needs references
  • {{No source since}}deletion warning for missing essential source information
  • {{Sourcefield}} - produces a warning that a file appears to have an invalid entry in its "Source" parameter; for use on user talk pages, not file pages; less serious than the {{No source since}} warning; does not threaten deletion

Fictional (consciously):

  • {{Fake sports logo}} – for potentially serious confusion
  • {{Fictional}} – proposed insignia ("flag", "sign", "seal", "CoA", …)
  • {{Fake insignia}} — generic "faked" symbols, to facilitate identification but often not factually accurate to avoid copyright issues.
  • {{Fictitious flag}} – for potentially serious confusion
