Colour standards

[edit]

The official RGB colour specifications can be found at the website of Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg.[1] In addition:

  • The colours for the unused S15, S16, S35, S36, S55, S56, S65, S66, S76, S95 and S96 are based on the rollsign of DBAG Class 476, from 1995 to 2003.[2]
  • The colour for the former S19 was himmelblau, according to the train route sign used during the Duo S-Bahn bi-mode trial from May 1994 to May 1995.[3]
  • The colour for the former S21 was smaragdgrün, based on their previous role as a temporary replacement for the S2 and S25 during the 2009 service disruptions.
  • The colours for the S3 (from July 1990 to June 1991) were hellrotorange, verkehrsgelb, smaragdgrün and lichtblau, according to the official map from November 1990.[4]
  • The colour for the S45 and S46 (before 16 June 2002) was kupferbraun, according to the official map from September 2001.[5]
  • The colours for the former S4, S6 and S86 were kupferbraun, braunbeige and gelbgrün respectively, according to the official map from September 2001.[5]
  • The colour for the former S10 was himmelblau, according to the official map from May 1998.[6]
  • The colours for the former U12 and U15 were gelbgrün/blutorange and gelbgrün respectively, according to the official map from September 2001.[5]
  • The colour for the U7 is the same as the Fähre (lichtblau), based on the same RAL and CMYK values on the VBB's guidelines, as well as the website of the BVG.[7]
  • The colour for the U10 and U11 is 50% grau, because neither the planners nor the media gave both lines a consistent colour during the planning stage.
  • The colour for the planned U0 is erikaviolett, based on maps that appeared in news coverage of state government proposals to expand the U-Bahn in March 2023.[8][9]
