English: The Talyllyn Railway is a narrow-gauge steam railway in based in Tywyn in Mid-Wales. The railway was originally used to transport slate but is now a tourist railway. In 1951 it became the first railway in the world to be preserved as a heritage railway by volunteers.

English: Tywyn Wharf is the principal terminus of the railway, though in its early days it was used for freight only, where slate was transhipped from the narrow gauge to standard gauge trains. It was rebuilt in 2005.
