English language name for the city
[edit]The correct and official English language name for the city is DANZIG. The English language is part of the Germanic group of European languages and therefore follows the Germanic example. English is not part of the Slavic group of European languages and therefore the usage of the name Gdansk is completely incorrect. Any such usage of the slavic variant as English is due to specific political agenda. This is the very same with the cities of Breslau and Stettin etc etc. Thank You.
- If your statement were right, the correct name of Koeln should be Koeln as Cologne has a Romantic root. Etc. ;-) Panek (talk) 15:31, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Both of these names in English language are correct. But the English names of geographical locations that are outside the English-speaking countries, based on local names. --Starscream (talk) 15:38, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
