More pics (Australia)
[edit]These are all from searching for "convicts" at http://www.pictureaustralia.org/ . I ignored any of boats or convict-built buildings, so if you want those, better go look for them yourself. there's lots.
- Convict church Port Arthur oil painting dated 1924, {{PD-Australia}} - could be interesting to contrast against an actual photo of it today.
- Convict stockade drawing dated 1831, not great resolution
- convict tramway lithograph dated 1852, I love this - convicts pushing carriages with upper-class types sitting inside. colour, there's some similar b&w images but colour is more distinctive IMO
- Convicting uprising watercolour dated 1804, good detail
- convicts embarking for Botany Bay drawing dated 180-?, this is a good one
- Death of a convict on the hulk Justitia engraving dated 183-?, looks good. we should put it on w:scurvy!
- Norfolk Island, the convict system engraving dated 1847, colour, low res but interesting scene
- Bill Thomspon photographed dated 187-?, same as Image:Bill Thompson (Tasmanian convict) - perhaps he deserves an article?
- Potrait of a convict watercolour, undated (artist lived from 1808-1888), very nice although the subject is anon.
- Relics of convict discipline slide dated 1904 ({{PD-Australia}}) , handcuffs, etc. a few different images of this are in the database, not sure which is the best
- Saved by death - a convict escapes in a coffin wood engraving dated 1877, so cool! I love this
- Spinning yarn, penal establishment, Pentridge wood engraving dated 1873?, B&W, good detail
- Tailor's room, Pentridge penal establishment wood engraving, 1873?, B&W, as above... I think this one's better though
If anyone uploads any of these, please give them a meaningful filename, put them inCategory:Australian history and on this page (as well as any relevant WP articles of course)... thank you! pfctdayelise 02:17, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
