The Vernal equinox, considered as a point in the celestial sphere, is a coordinate axis as used in rocket and satellite guidance. In that context it is referred to as the "first point of aries". Due to the precession of the equinoxes, this point moves a significant amount in a year, which has lead to problems when a space satellite and its rocket booster use different ways to define their coordinate systems in relation to the first point of Aries.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.188.117.70 (talk • contribs) 15 December 2005‎ (UTC)
