English: Routemaster bus RM1033 (reg. DSL 540, ex-33 CLT) was delivered to London Transport in January 1962. It saw continual use in London into the privatisation era, passing in 1994 into the fleet of London Central. In 1998 it was fitted with a Scania engine, and in 2000 it was one of several London Central RM class buses given life-extending refurbishments. It was finally withdrawn in January 2005 on the last day of Routemaster service on route 36, by now fully route branded for the route. A month later it passed to dealer Ensignbus, before being bought for preservation in June 2005. From December 2007 to April 2008, it underwent repanelling and repainting, emerging in white roundel livery with London Buses Ltd legal lettering, a combination which it would have only worn between 29 March 1985 (the date London Buses Ltd was incorporated) and around 1987 (after which London Buses Ltd adopted a coloured roundel with 'London Buses' lettering). [1] Various internal and external features have been restored to original condition. At some point prior to its repanelling, it was reregistered to DSL 540.
