Römische Ruine (Wien)

Deutsch: Die Römische Ruine (ursprünglich Ruine von Karthago) im Schönbrunner Schlossgarten in Wien ist ein 1778 von Hohenberg entworfener romantischer Brunnen in Form einer künstlichen Ruine. Die Skulpturen der Flussgötter von Moldau und Elbe wurden von Beyer aus Sterzinger Marmor gefertigt.

English: The Roman Ruin (originally Ruin of Carthage) is a set of follies in the Schönbrunn Palace Gardens in Vienna designed by the architect Hohenberg in 1778. It consists of a rectangular pool enclosed by a massive arch with lateral walls, evoking the impression of an ancient edifice slowly crumbling into the ground. A figural group in the pool in front of the ruin symbolises the rivers Vltava and Elbe.
