如果您想上傳來自其它網站的檔案，您需要先下載到電腦裡，才能上傳到共享資源。在上傳前，請為它加上適合的版權協議，但不能上傳非自由版權圖像。您可以參考檔案上傳案例彙編了解您可以或不可以上傳哪些檔案，以及這樣規範的原因。

Date: Give the year this work was created and/or first published. If you don't know when the first publication was, give the year the work was created, and the year of the publication you got it from.

If the file is a photo of some artwork, please also give the year this artwork was created and/or published.

For compositions, also give the year the composition was first published.

File changes: Describe the changes you made to the file you will overwrite. This will appear as the edit summary in the file history. A description is mandatory.

For instance, if you've cropped away a border, say so. Or if you're uploading a larger, but otherwise identical, version of the already existing file, write "Larger version from ", followed by the source of the new version.

Your description will appear as an edit summary; it will not appear on the file description page itself! If the new version comes from a different source, or has a different author or license, please also update the file description page after the upload.

If the new version you want to upload differs substantially from the already existing file, it is almost always better to upload the file under a new name instead of overwriting the existing file.

License: The Commons accepts only media that either

are explicitly licensed under a free license such as the GFDL, the Creative Commons licenses {{Cc-by-4.0}} or {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}, or similar free licenses, or
are in the public domain both in the U.S. and in the source country of the work.

Watch this: Select this checkbox if you want to add the newly uploaded file to your watchlist.

Ignore warnings: Select this checkbox if you want to upload right away, skipping any warnings about overwriting an existing file or about uploading a very large file. (Note, however, that PNG files larger than 12.5 million pixels currently cannot be rendered as thumbnails.)

Categories: Add categories to your file to make it easier to find it. Click on the "(+)" link to add a new category; if you have Ajax enabled, you will even get suggestions for existing categories as you type. If you want to change a category you have added, click the "(±)" link, and to remove an already added category, click on "(-)".

Source: This should be already pre-filled with text indicating that this is your work. If not, enter "Own work".

License: Choose the license under which you want to publish your file here at the Commons. The Commons accepts only media that either are explicitly licensed under a free license, or that are in the public domain. You must therefore either freely license your file, or place it into the public domain. In any case, anyone may use and redistribute the file or modified versions thereof for any legal purpose (including commercial purposes) in any way.

If you place your file into the public domain, you basically give up all rights. Users of the file don't even need to state where it came from or mention your name.
Free licenses offer you some more control:
- {{Cc-by}} (the "Creative Commons Attribution" license) requires that you be attributed wherever the file is re-used.
- {{Cc-by-sa}} (the "Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike" license) requires additionally that any redistribution (of the original file or of a modified version) be placed under the same license.
- {{GFDL}} (the GNU Free Documentation License) is like {{Cc-by-sa}}, but additionally requires that any redistribution of the file also include or be accompanied by a copy of the full text of the GFDL itself, and that it be stated where the original can be found.
- {{FAL}} (the Free Art License) is similar to the GFDL.

If your file is an image of some copyrighted artwork, please also explain in the description why your image is not subject to the copyright on the artwork shown. For more information, check our image casebook.

In all cases, you remain the owner of the copyrights on your work, and you are free to license it to someone else under different terms, or to try to exploit your work elsewhere commercially. But note that any free license is non-exclusive, not limited in time, and cannot be retracted once granted.
