McLeod Ganj
McLeod Ganj,, McLeodGanj, or Mcleodganj, is a suburb of Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It has an average elevation of 2,082 metres (6,831 feet). Situated on the Dhauladhar Range, whose highest peak, 'Hanuman Ka Tibba', at about 5,639 metres (18,500 feet), lies just behind it, it is known as "Little Lhasa" or "Dhasa" (short form of Dharamshala, used mainly by Tibetans") due to its large population of Tibetan refugees. McLeod Ganj is the seat of Government of Tibet in Exile, and residence of Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama.
McLeod Ganj was named after Sir Donald Friell McLeod, a Lieutenant Governor of Punjab; the suffix ganj is a common Persian word used for "neighbourhood". 32°14′18.97″N 76°19′25.96″E / 32.2386028°N 76.3238778°E
