Hong Kong International Airport
History
[edit]On October 11, 1989, the then British Hong Kong Governor, Sir Edward Wilson, announced plans to build a new airport in Chek Lap Kok.
On April 4, 1990, the Provisional Airport Authority was established in accordance with the Provisional Airport Authority Regulations, responsible for planning, designing and constructing the new airport.
On December 21, 1993, the construction of the new airport started, and the site development project was extended to Lanzhou.
Operation status
[edit]As of June 2019, the Hong Kong International Airport has 5 base airlines, namely Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, Hong Kong Chinese Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Hong Kong Express Airlines; its Air China, Cathay Dragon, Hong Kong Chinese Airlines , Hong Kong Airlines, Hong Kong Express Airlines set up the head office in Hong Kong. As of June 2019, the total number of routes at Hong Kong International Airport exceeded 220, and over 220 cities were navigable.
