Gallery 291

The Gallery 291 (abbr.: 291) was an internationally known art gallery, located at 291 Fifth Avenue in New York City from 1905 to 1917, run by Alfred Stieglitz. The gallery's exhibitions were famous for first bringing up American photographers into art discussions and for introducing some of the most avant-garde European artists of the time, including Henri Matisse, Auguste Rodin, Henri Rousseau, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, Constantin Brancusi, Francis Picabia and Marcel Duchamp, to the United States.
