{{ping|Baxteremail} Hello, This study cannot be a self-portrait of William Henry Hunt. Not only is it unclear that the features of the sitter are sufficiently similar to those seen in the many late photographs of the artist or the several certain self-portraits by Hunt in watercolor, oil, and pencil, but all painted images in color unquestionably show Hunt's eyes as being brown, not blue/gray. Moreover, a self-portrait exhibited at the Society of Painters in Water-Colours in 1855, Le Melade Imaginaire, shows that the artist had more dark coloring and less gray in his hair, even at that late date, than what is shown in this watercolor. I do not know the identity of this sitter [although it is possible, based on nothing more than a general, facial similarity, that he could be Hunt's older brother, Thomas James Hunt]. Until the identity can be firmly made, I would suggest that the title should be changed to Portrait of a Man and that this image should not be used as a replacement for the actual self-portrait [or an alternate self-portrait] that previously was used on the artist's Wikipedia page.
