Permission is for use on Wikipedia only (not GFDL, PD, etc): [1] -SCEhardT 20:38, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That is correct. Now, what do I do to keep this picture from being deleted? --Adamrush 21:56, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Request that the copyright owner release the image under a free license such as {{GFDL}}, {{Cc-by-sa}}, {{PD}}, etc. There's more info at w:Wikipedia:Boilerplate request for permission -SCEhardT 17:44, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've left a request for release into the public domain or with the GFDL. Can an author just will something into the public domain? Or have I misunderstood the concept? --Adamrush 01:48, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes - the author can say "I release all my rights to this work" or "I release this work into the public domain." For example, I no longer own this image. I can't change my mind and say I want it deleted from the Commons, nor can I restrict anyone from using it in any way and place they want. -SCEhardT 18:43, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See bottom of discussion thread for specific GFDL permission. -SCEhardT 17:21, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
