File talk:Lucanus tetraodon Campania male-1.jpg
(Redirected from File talk:Lucanus capreolus (male-1).jpg)
Dear DerBorg,
Please do add locations to uploaded images. This makes sense to prove the right identification in many cases, like here. I got the impression your images do show an example of Lucanus cervus "forma capreolus", in other words a male stag beetle (Lucanus cervus) with rather small grown jaws. Naming of minor grown males might be done as Lucanus cervus "forma minor", so far wished at all, to avoid confusions. In case the imaged beetle has been found living wild in Europe, it could not be Lucanus capreolus, native to eastern North America. If done there, the oak tree of Quercus robur was either planted or wildered.
I do hope you can help to clear the issue.
Kind regards
