Description Wettinstein in Schönheide im Erzgebirge: Zum 800jährigen Bestehen der in Sachsen regierenden Dynastie der Wettiner wurden im Jahr 1889 überall in den Sächsischen Staatsforsten Gedenksteine aufgestellt, auch im Wald süd-westlich des höchsten Berges auf Schönheider Gemeindegebiet, dem Laubberg (767,0 Meter). Der Text auf dem Stein, „1089-1889. H. A. Wettin“, bedeutet: Im Jahr 1089 wurde Markgraf Heinrich I. von Kaiser Heinrich IV. mit der Markgrafschaft Meißen, dem Ausgang des Landes Sachsen (s. auch Kurfürstentum Sachsen), belehnt, daher der Buchstabe „H“. Die Herrschaft der Wettiner über Sachsen dauerte im Jahr 1889 mit der Regentschaft von König Albert 800 Jahre, daher der Buchstabe „A“. Die Herrschaft der Wettiner endete mit der Revolution 1918, die zum Thronverzicht von König Friedrich August III. führte.
