Introduction to Wikidata MOOC

English: (Video 1) Wikidata is becoming a central point of the data web, and one of the most active Wikimedia projects. This knowledge base remains difficult to understand for novices. This is why Wikimedia France designed this MOOC, which will teach you how to contribute independently to the Wikidata knowledge base. Divided into 11 chapters divided into four main thematic sections, it initially covers general knowledge about databases, queries, opening data and the semantic web. How Wikidata works and the principles on which it is based are explained to you secondly, before inviting you to contribute.
With the Wikidata MOOC, you will discover how to create new data pages on Wikidata, what topics have their place there, and how data quality is ensured. You will explore the possibilities of reusing Wikidata data. You will learn to interact with a community of several thousand volunteers. The first edition of this MOOC lasting six weeks opened on April 26, 2022. It is aimed at anyone interested in the Wikidata knowledge base, and more specifically at students, as well as agents libraries, galleries, archives and museums (GLAM). |
