Deutsch: Torso einer Statue. 2./3. Jh. Marmor, gefunden Wien 3, bei St. Marx, 1849. Dauerleihgabe Kunsthistorisches Museum. Der Torso ist eines der wenigen erhaltenen Steindenkmälern aus Marmor in Vindobona. Hier wird vermutlich der Kaiser dargestellt, der sich wie der oberste Gott Jupiter mit nachtem Oberkörper präsentiert. Der Offiziersmantel an seiner Schulter zeichnet ihn als siegreichen Feldherrn aus. Die Statue war wahrscheinlich am Forum aufgestellt und diente dem Kaiserkult.
English: Torso of a statue, 2nd/3rd century A.D., marble. The torso is one of the few remaining marble stone monuments from Vindobona. The statue might actually be the emperor - who is like the supreme god Jupiter - depicted with naked upper body. The officeräs cloak on his shoulder identifies him as a vicorious commander. the figure was probably placed at the forum and served the imperial cult. |
