Nederlands: Polygoonjournaal, Weeknummer 51-04

Bioscoopjournaals waarin Nederlandse onderwerpen van een bepaalde week worden gepresenteerd.

De duikboot "Tijgerhaai" van de Koninklijke Marine vertrekt uit de haven van Rotterdam voor een oefenreis naar West-Indië met aan boord enkele wetenschappers olv prof. Vening Meinesz., die tijdens de reis zwaartekrachtonderzoek zullen verrichten mbv speciale apparatuur. Aandacht voor de voorbereidingen van de tocht, het aan boord brengen en installeren van de wetenschappelijke instrumenten en de afvaart.

SHOTS:

  • De onderzeeër ligt voor de wal in de onderzeeboothaven; matrozen poetsen de naam op; proviand (aardappels, broden, groenten, vlees) wordt aan boord gebracht en weggeborgen;
  • int. duikboot: bemanningsleden bemoeien zich met de div. bedieningsorganen; wetenschappers Bruins(?) en Dorrestein(?) dragen hun meetapparatuur naar binnen, inspecteren de boel en installeren de zaak in een zgn. cardanische ophanging; in de machinekamer bewegen de nokkenassen van de dieselmotoren;
  • de wetenschappelijk leider van het onderzoek, prof. F.A. Vening Meinesz, geeft, aan dek, een hand aan vice-admiraal J.J. Willinge en spreekt enkele woorden van dank tot de Marine;
  • schip vaart achteruit weg.
