Vertrek van de kruiser "de Ruyter"; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 3 uit 1937.; Vertrek van de kruiser 'De Ruyter' naar Nederlands-Indië vanuit de haven van Den Helder. SHOTS: - de wal met in de verte de afgemeerde kruiser 'De Ruyter'; - groot aantal mensen gaat van boord schip, uitgewuifd door de bemanning van de kruiser; - afscheid met oa mensen aan wal die zwaaien naar bemanning op schip; - Schout bij Nacht J.J. Dikkers, gaat via loopplank naar schip en neemt afscheid van commandant en bemanning; - lossen schoten vanaf 'De Ruyter', waarna het schip wordt klaargemaakt voor vertrek; - div. shots van het vertrek van kruiser uit haven onder grote belangstelling terwijl 'Het Wilhelmus' klinkt; - div. shots oorlogsschepen (oa schip met opschrift: 'Z8') op volle zee; - lossen van kanonschoten op zee gevolgd door enorme rookontwikkeling aan boord ander schip.
