Description
English: This report covers the second phase of research by LACVAW, the Legislative Advocacy Coalition on

Violence Against Women, on implementation of the VAPP Act. LACVAW is comprised of women’s rights organisations, human rights groups, religious groups and development agencies working on various aspects of women’s human rights, particularly violence against women. LACVAW played a formative role in the drafting of the Violence Against Women (Prohibition) Bill, having engaged in legislative advocacy for its enactment since 2001. The two phases of LACVAW’s research examine reported cases of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, and the character of response practices among FCT’s response institutions. Funds for the project were provided by the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) programme, itself funded by the

European Union and implemented by the British Council.
