Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A line chart presenting the rate of tuberculosis found in swine inspected by the United States Department of Agriculture.

Based on a chart in United States Department of Agriculture Miscellaneous Circular № 57, "The tattoo method of marking hogs and its use" (1938) by F. E. Murray, Associate Veterinarian, Bureau of Animal Industry https://hdl.handle.net/2027/osu.32435026615435

The accompanying caption reads:

Fig. 7.—Evidence of extensive tuberculous infection among swine "retained" on account of tuberculosis (fiscal years 1910 to 1937, inclusive). where Federal meat inspection is maintained. The extent of the disease finally determines whether carcasses are condemned wholly or in part. Employment of the tattoo method should reduce the percentage of infection.
