Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Street Scene, Tangier, by Henry Ossawa Tanner. Smithsonian American Art Museum.

From museum web page on painting: Henry Ossawa Tanner, Street Scene, Tangier (Man Leading Calf), ca. 1910, oil on paperboard, 10 5⁄8 x 13 3⁄4 in. (27.0 x 34.9 cm.), Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Robbins, 1983.95.196A

Alternate title according to Dewey F. Mosby is Man Leading a Donkey.[1]

Mosby dates this circa 1912, while the museum dates it circa 1910. Mosby details that he accounts for Tanner's trips differently than had been previously known, with no 1910 trip to North Africa, but trips in 1908 and 1912.
