English: Shocked neoblastic zircon grain from the Vredefort impact structure (South Africa), imaged by a variety of scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques. Up left: orientation contrast image; up right: cumulative misorientation electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) map (crystallographic orientation from blue to red is 90 degrees); bottom left: backscattered electron (BSE) image; bottom right: EBSD map color-coded in unversed pole figure (IPF) colors. Note zoning in individual neoblasts.
