(B) Semithin section stained with toluidine blue showing a continuous monolayer of cuboidal osteoblasts (arrows) on the surface of the bone plate. Below the osteoblasts is a thick layer of blue-stained osteoid and beneath it, there is the unstained mineralized bone. A sharp boundary between osteoid and mineralized bone is observed (arrowheads).
