Description

Der Schäferhof am Dümmer gehört zur Ortschaft Stemshorn im Landkreis Diepholz und liegt direkt am Deich der Hunte. Der Schäferhof wurde 1950 vom Hunte-Wasserverband errichtet. Er wird jetzt vom Verein Naturraum Dümmerniederung mit dem Kommunikationsforum Alter Schafstall betrieben und ist an einen Schäfer verpachtet, der die Beweidung von Naturflächen an der Hunte und im Ochsenmoor sowie im Schäferhof ein Cafe betreibt. Der Schäfer hat eine Herde von Moorschnucken. Die Moorschnucke ist von der Gesellschaft zur Erhaltung alter und gefährdeter Haustierrassen (GEH) in der Roten Liste gefährdeter Nutztierrassen für 2019 in der Stufe III (gefährdet) eingestuft.
