Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Santragachi Jheel is located in Howrah, West Bengal. The water-body attracts a number of migratory birds during winter. The diversity and number of local and migratory birds is quite visible. The water-body/ jheel is surrounded by residential complexes, shops, small roadside eateries, railway goods wagon making unit and a busy railway junction (Santragachi) of South Eastern Railway in India. In recent years anthropogenic pressure have taken toll on the water-body and it needs serious attention and action for conservation.
