English: Woodblock print, oban tate-e, five prints commemorating five special dance performances by Onoe Tamizō II at the Kawarasaki theatre in the first month of Tenpō 13 (1842): 1) Shakkyō--lion dancer in Shakkyō, an actor on a rock with a long flowing mane of hair; 2) Manzai--New Year's dance, lavishly dressed dancer with a drum; 3) Tōjin--a Chinese dance, an actor with an elevated leg; 4) Komori--a child's dance, a woman with a lute and an octopus; and 5) Yakko-dako--a servant as a kite, with a bird nearby. |
