Description
English:
Christ the King church Church nave. The church foundation stone placed in 1814. In 1816 the former wooden church burned down. In 1819 started to use (the probably incompleted) church. Chronogram on the facade refer to this. The builder/donor, Count Ferenc Széchényi of Sárvár-Felsővidék chief ispán of Somogy County, royal commissioner of Drava regulation, died in 1820 one year before the church tower completed in 1821 and the church sacrified. Facade niche statues: Elisabeth of Hungary and Saint Stephen?? Mission cross and plaques are on its facade. Interesting, the double cross on the roof ended with a Sun. The main altarpiece removed and chenged to a Christ the King statue in the 1940s. In between 1954 and 1973 inside repainted/restored and at this time made the frescoes of the Hungarian saints by László Maróti local art teacher (his tomb is in the Béke Street cemeteryFile:Grab Künstler László Maróti, 2022 Barcs.jpg) - Hősök Square, Barcs, Somogy County, Hungary.
