English: General view of an unidentified chemist preparing a drug evidence sample for analysis by a Perkin-Elmer Infrared Spectrophotometer in the Columbus Police Department Crime Laboratory. Per notations accompanying the photograph, the sample is dissolved in sodium carbonate and purified with chloroform. The solution is then evaporated and the remaining residue is analyzed by the spectrophotometer for use as evidence in court. |
