English: * One of 4 pieces, illustrations for the text of an entertainment; twelve figures of an equestrian ballet depicted in twelve 7.6 cm. squares. Performed by night in 1652 for the Archdukes Ferdinand Charles and Sigismund Francis and the Archduchess Anne of Tuscany in the arena next to the Grand-Ducal Palace in Florence. The horse ballet followed a sham equestrian battle, both composed by Tommaso Guidoni; verses recited by Benedetto Rigoli; costumes and scenery by Alfonso Parigi. -Cf. *MGT Victoria and Albert Museum.
