Provenance:

Il quadro nel 1966 si trovava al secondo piano del Palazzo nell'appartamento denominato "Aldo Savi" ed era senza cornice. Nel 1971risulta essere al piano terreno nell'appartamento di Madama Felicita nella stanza 28 dove è collocato attualmente. Il dipinto è stato attribuito a Giovanni Panealbo. Giovanni Panealbo, pittore di ritratti, fu allievo del Beaumont a Torino per quanto riguarda il disegno e per la pittura del Batoni in Roma, dove fu inviato nel 1772, con l'appoggio di Vittorio Amedeo e Maria Antonia ancora duchi. Tra il 1774 e il 1779 esegue ritratti per la Casa Reale e nel 1779 ottiene il permeso per spostarsi non solo in Italia, ma anche in Francia per perfezionarsi nella sua arte. Dal 1782 viene costituito dal sovrano "pittore in ritratti" con lostipendio di £ 300 e nel 1789 viene nominato membro della Regia Accademia. La sua attività è documentata fino al1799. Dall'inventario del 1911 e del 1881 risulta che questo dipinto era al terzo piano del Palazzo.
