Description
English:
Palóc Museum (Est. 1891). Relief stucco above side entry. Member of the Hungarian National Museum. Planned by Gyula Walder. Built in 1914-1915? Due to lack of funds, one of the wings of the building was not built, the lack of which the museum still feels to this day, due to the lack of office and its storage problems. Under world war I used as war hospital and barrack. At this time destroyed about 80% of collection. Renovated till 1931. In the early 1930s, in the open space behind the museum, the country's first open-air museum consisting of relocated buildings was created. On (or just before) east facade is Iván Nagy head sculpture by Gyula Hadik (Erected in 1978, in 2009 after the statue of Lőrinc Szabó was stolen, the bust brought into the museum was restored to its original place in November 2016 with the help of Péter Párkányi Raab and Zsolt Lencsés) - Palóc (former Erzsébet) Grove /Est. 1898/, Balassagyarmat, Nógrád County, Hungary.
